Start feeling festive at the German Christmas markets in Berlin

The Christmas markets in Berlin are often considered to be the best German Christmas markets anywhere in the country — they’re full of excitement and festive cheer!

This year, the Christmas markets in Berlin will be taking place from 22 November to 31 December, and there will be 60 to choose from. Each of the Christmas markets in Berlin aims to offer something a little special.

Or head to the Christmas market outside Charlottenburg Castle, which is a much more lavish affair. The castle will be illuminated, and around 250 stallholders selling hand-crafted goods and delicious traditional treats will pack out the castle parks. There will also be a host of activities including carriage rides and themed tents.

Another one of the great Christmas markets in Berlin is the market at Gendarmenmarkt. Gendarmenmarkt Christmas market is framed by spectacular architecture including the French and German cathedral and the Concert House. Watch toymakers and goldsmiths craft special Christmas gifts. There is also a stage offering traditional entertainment. Gendarmenmarkt Christmas market isn’t free but the entrance fee is only €1.

To escape the chill winter air, head to the Potsdamer Platz and the Sony Centre, where an undercover Christmas market awaits. Children can enjoy the onsite Legoland Discovery Centre.
