A new Rough Guide to Accessible Britain has been published, which showcases 180 reviews on sights and activities in the UK that are equipped for disabled travellers.

Winning venues of the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain 2010 award are included in their own section of the guide, along with highly commended locations.

A group of disabled writers travelled around Britain to compile sections of the guide, exploring adventurous activities from sailing Rutland Water to Cairngorm dog sledding.

The Rough Guide to Accessible Britain also contains details of how to get around, parking tips and places that offer free entry.

The guide has been designed to give disabled people more information about the places they might want to visit in Britain. Able-bodied people might take it for granted that they can visit just about anywhere and take part in any activity. But sometimes disabled people have to research a destination thoroughly - the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain takes out the need for extensive research as it’s already been done by the writers.

The guide is free to all Blue Badge holders and those that hold a disabled persons railcard. It has been published in association with Motability, a service that provides adapted cars to disabled people.

The accessible guide website has also got lots of great information as well as fun stuff like screensavers and wallpapers which depict some of the best disabled days out in the country.

Rough Guides are renowned for performing in depth research to ensure their comprehensive guides demonstrate what different destinations have to offer the curious traveller.
