As April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month we’d like to take the opportunity to talk about travel and travel insurance for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s Awareness Month takes place annually and is used by Parkinson’s charities, such as the Parkinson’s Disease Society, to raise awareness of the condition amongst the general public and to raise funds.

Parkinson’s Disease affects some 7-10 million people worldwide, and in the UK one person in every five hundred has the condition, with 127,000 known sufferers. Most are over fifty, but one in every twenty are less than forty, and more men have the condition than women. The symptoms of Parkinson’s are very variable in their presentation and effects, varying from mild to severely disabling, with tremors, a shuffling gait and rigidity the most common outward signs.
