Dreaming of a Holiday? There are some Glimmers of Hope!

Added 14/04/2020

If the lockdown is making you wish for the time when you can travel again, there are some glimmers of hope starting to appear as tour operators and airlines start to accept bookings again.

With many tour operators now offering flexible options, such as no fees for holiday changes even up to 24 hours before, and great deals on departures later in the year or for 2021, now could be a good time to start browsing and book a holiday.   Afterall, having something to look forward to could help you stay positive through these difficult times.

Airlines Announce When They Plan to Fly Again

Tui has announced that it plans to start flying again on 17 June.  They also have 1000s of extra holidays for summer 2021 now on sale.

Jet2 and Ryanair are also planning to recommence flights and holidays from 17 June.

Flexible Booking Options

Many tour operators and airlines are now offering admin fee free flexibility on new bookings;

BA’s ‘Book with Confidence’ commitment means you can book now with the flexibility to change your destination, date of travel or both with no change fee.

Viking Cruises is offering a risk-free guarantee which allows guests to change their cruise date up to 24 hours before their planned departure without incurring any fees.

Special Offers for this Year and 2021

If you’re unsure about booking something for this year, why not consider looking at early 2021?
You can secure a P&O cruise for 2021 with only a 5% deposit.

Hayes and Jarvis are also offering inspiration and great offers for 2021.  If you book before the end of April you can take advantage of their flexible travel options and a £200 discount.

Obviously the dates that flights and holidays will recommence will be kept constantly under review because no-one can go anywhere until the Government advice changes, but with many operators offering flexible options and no fees on changes, now might be a good time to bag a good deal for later in the year, or next year, you can always postpone the trip if necessary.

Travel Insurance for Your Trip

Of course, if you are booking a holiday, it is a good idea to buy your travel insurance straight away, particularly if you have existing medical conditions.

Goodtogoinsurance.com are currently selling policies for trips starting after 17 May. And like many of the tour operators we are also being flexible.

If you need to change your trip, on the provision that no claims have been submitted against the policy, we can change the dates of your single trip insurance to a new trip anytime up to December 2021;

  • If the new trip is the same destination and duration, there will be no charge.
  • If the new trip is for a longer period or a different destination, there may be an additional charge to cover this.

Please note.  Our policies will not provide any cover whilst the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is advising against all but essential travel.  If you purchase a policy for later on in the year, cover will commence instantly when the FCO travel ban is lifted.
