Since March 2007, Tune Hotels.com has made a name for itself in Malaysia and Indonesia by offering cheap hotel rooms for as little as £2 a night. Their official tagline is: ‘5-Star Sleeping Experience at a 1-Star Price’. Now the budget hotel chain will be opening its first hotel in Westminster in London on 30 August. Plans are also in place to establish a further 15 hotels throughout London over the next seven years.

Tune Hotels.com Westminster will offer standard en-suite double rooms from £35 a night. The budget hotel chain specialises in providing comfortable accommodation at bargain basement prices. They keep their prices low by adding extra services at a cost. Towels will cost £1, room cleaning will cost £7.50, luggage storage is £2 and using a hairdryer will also cost £2. This will enable customers the opportunity to pick and choose what to include, making their stay really affordable.

Mark Lankester, chief executive of Tune Hotels.com commented on the budget hotel chain’s ethos: “It’s all about choice. We say consumers should assemble the experience as they see fit. We aim to provide whatever suits the customer in terms of timing, price and the comfort people require.”

Tune Hotels.com Westminster will provide 75 double rooms and 4 special needs rooms. The budget hotel will be perfect for Brits taking a weekend break in the capital or foreign travellers that are on a budget. Many of London’s tourist attractions will be within walking distance, including Big Ben and the London Eye. And it’s just across the road from Lambeth North tube station.

The hotels are similar in style to Holiday Inns or Premier Inns, and with so many expensive hotels in London, there should be plenty of people who will want to try a more affordable option. The budget hotel chain was developed by Tony Fernandes, who is also behind the budget airline, AirAsia.
