A terminal prognosis means a person has a disease or condition that is incurable and likely to be the cause of their passing. It signifies an advanced stage of an illness, often referred to as a life-limiting or end-of-life condition. Our single trip policies can cover an individual with a terminal prognosis, however, the prognosis duration must be more than 6 months from the return date of policy.
Yes - you must notify us of any changes to your health or medical conditions before travelling which may incur an additional premium, dependent on the associated risk. Acceptance of cover must be confirmed in writing for any changes to be valid.

An existing medical condition is any medical condition for which you have experienced symptoms, seen a doctor, visited a hospital or clinic, or been prescribed medication for within the last 2 years, as well as any previous medical condition which could impact on your current health or lead to claim.
- Medical conditions which are controlled or prevented by medication, such as blood pressure or cholesterol need to be declared.
- Medical conditions for which you have been prescribed medication but have chosen not to take must also be declared.
- If you decide to declare some existing medical conditions and not others your cover could be void.
- If you no longer have a medical condition, but have been to a doctor's surgery, clinic or hospital for a check-up or follow-up appointment in the last 2 years you must declare that condition.
- Where a medical procedure has resulted in something being added or removed from the body, e.g. Organ transplant, pacemaker, knee replacement, etc. you should declare the condition that caused you to have the procedure. Please note: Having had something removed from, or added to the body is considered to be an ongoing symptom and will need to be declared no matter how long ago the procedure was.
An undiagnosed condition means you have symptoms or ongoing tests without a confirmed diagnosis. Please call our Contact Centre so that they can refer it for a possible exclusion.
In general, no. Conditions that are not yet diagnosed or under investigation cannot be covered until formally diagnosed. However, please call our Contact Centre so that they can refer it for a possible exclusion.
Yes. If you've had investigations or checks for a condition in the past 2 years, you must declare them, even if they are routine.

Travel insurance is not a substitute for private medical treatment abroad. Cover is provided for emergency treatment, using public/state facilities where available. Private care is only covered if authorised by the assistance team, and only if there is no public/state option available.
Yes - you must know the medication you take and what condition it treats so your medical history can be accurately assessed.
Emergency dental treatment to relieve pain is covered up to the limit stated in your policy schedule. Routine dental care is not covered.

Yes, we recommend taking a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) with you when travelling in Europe, even if you already have travel insurance. A GHIC gives you access to state-provided healthcare in EU countries at the same cost as local residents, which may be free or reduced. However, it does not cover private treatment if there were no public facilities availble, repatriation to the UK, or non-medical issues such as lost luggage or cancellations. Travel insurance provides this wider protection, so carrying both ensures you’re fully covered in case of an emergency.

Yes – if you're using weight loss injections such as Wegovy, Ozempic, or Mounjaro, you must declare them when getting a quote, even if they’re not linked to another medical condition like diabetes or obesity. Our medical screening process now includes updated search terms like GLP-1 receptor agonists and weight loss injections to make this easier. Pregnancy Cover
We provide cover under this policy if something unexpected happens. In particular, we provide cover under the Emergency Medical and Repatriation Expenses section for accidental bodily injury or illness. We don’t consider pregnancy or childbirth to be an illness or accidental bodily injury.
To be clear, we only provide cover for Cancellation, Curtailment and Emergency Medical and Repatriation Expenses for claims that come from Complications of Pregnancy and Childbirth.
Complications of pregnancy and childbirth only includes the following:
Toxaemia (toxins in the blood), Bicornuate uterus, Gestational diabetes (diabetes arising as a result of pregnancy), Gestational hypertension (high blood pressure arising as a result of pregnancy), Pre-eclampsia (where you develop high blood pressure, carry abnormal fluid and have protein in your urine during the second half of pregnancy), Ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy that develops outside of the uterus), Foetal Growth Retardation due to Placental Insufficiency, Molar pregnancy or hydatidiform mole (a pregnancy in which a tumour develops from the placental tissue), Post-partum haemorrhage (excessive bleeding following childbirth), Retained placenta membrane (part or all of the placenta is left behind in the uterus after delivery), Placental abruption (part or all of the placenta separates from the wall of the uterus), Hyperemesis gravidarum (excessive vomiting as a result of pregnancy), Obstetric cholestasis, Placenta praevia (when the placenta is in the lower part of the uterus and covers part or all of the cervix), Stillbirth, Miscarriage, Emergency Caesarean section, A termination needed for medical reasons, or Premature birth more than 8 weeks (or 16 weeks if you know you are having more than one baby) before the expected delivery date.
We will not cover denial of boarding by your carrier, so you should check that you will be able to travel with the carrier/airline in advance. If at the time of booking your trip you are aware that you are pregnant, you must ensure that you are able to have the recommended vaccinations and inoculations by the UK government for that trip; no cover will be provided for cancellation in the event that, after booking you discover travel is advised against, or you are unable to receive the appropriate and recommended vaccinations and inoculations for that country.Please make sure your Medical Practitioner and Midwife are aware of your travel plans, and that there are no known complications, and you are fit to undertake the planned trip.
No, you don't need to declare pregnancy unless there are complications. Normal pregnancy does not need to be notified to us.
Covid
Yes. If you haven't had COVID vaccinations, this does not invalidate cover. You remain covered provided you meet the general eligibility rules.
If you contract Covid-19 abroad our policies provide the following cover:
- Emergency medical treatment and repatriation, when medically necessary, if you contract Covid-19 whilst abroad.
- Cover for additional accommodation & transport costs (limits apply) if you are unable to return home due to contracting Covid-19 and being told to self-isolate abroad.#
- Confined to your accommodation benefit (Platinum policies only): We will pay a fixed benefit (limits apply) for every 24 hours that you are confined to your accommodation due to medical advice.
- Cabin confinement (Cruise policies only): We will pay a fixed benefit (limits apply) for every 24 hours that you are confined to your cabin due to medical advice.
If you contract Covid-19 before you travel, our Gold, Platinum and all levels of Cruise cover provide cancellation in the following circumstances:
- if you, anyone insured on the policy, or a travel companion catch Covid-19 within 14 days of your trip starting.
- if you, anyone insured on the policy, or a household member have to self-isolate at home due to Covid-19.
- if you, anyone insured on the policy, or a family member are hospitalised or die due to Covid-19.
Important: There is no cancellation cover on silver policies.
