Annual travel insurance
You may wonder why our policies do not cover any costs for private medical treatment unless it has been authorised by our emergency assistance team.
In the UK, when you need emergency care, the NHS is often your best option, as most private hospitals do not have Accident and Emergency (A&E) facilities. The same is generally true abroad.
If you are having a medical emergency, you (or someone on your behalf) should always call local emergency services or go to your local A&E department. This will usually be a public hospital.
If you do require medical treatment abroad, you (or someone on your behalf) must call our 24/7 assistance team as soon as possible.
If you have been taken to a private facility, the 24/7 assistance team can verify whether this is the best place for you to receive your medical treatment, and if deemed necessary, can arrange for you to be transferred to a more appropriate public facility.
In addition to authorising cover for treatment, they are there to help you get the treatment you need, communicate with the hospital on your behalf, communicate with family members and arrange repatriation back to the UK if you are unable to return home on your prebooked transport.
There are no limits on our annual travel insurance.
