Easter Getaway - make sure you get value for money!
Added 07/04/2011
With Easter just around the corner you might be thinking of escaping the UK and opting for some April sun, well it looks like holidaymakers on a budget might find that their spending money will go further if they stick to city breaks in Eastern European cities.
A survey carried out by the Post Office which examined where visitors money would go the furthest found that out of the 19 city break destination that they examined the top five cities ended up being in Eastern Europe. The results also found that a strong UK pound makes half of the cities listed cheaper than last year.
Meals, drinks, accommodation, sightseeing and transport were all rated with Stockholm coming in as the most expensive with Barcelona, Germany and Dublin all coming in as better value.
Did you know that holidaymakers can pre-order their currency for collection or home delivery at Travelex and the Postoffice?
As well as getting your currency sorted don’t forget to arrange for your European Travel Insurance, the sooner you get it the sooner you will be protected so make sure it’s on your to do list!
Another reason to stay in Europe
Unfortunately British Airways has increased the cost of their long haul flights and are blaming this on the high rise of oil.
This isn’t the first raise that BA is passing onto its customers; in fact it’s the second rise in two months. The new costs will see £10 added to economy tickets and £20 to business and first class.
On a positive note the increase will not affect those of you planning to travel on short haul flights.
If you are planning on going away don’t forget to take out Travel Insurance as soon as you book your holiday, this will ensure that you get the maximum amount of protection for your holiday.
Whatever you decide to do have a great Easter break!
