02/09/2019

As the Brexit date of 31 October is getting closer, we'd like to reassure you that your travel insurance will be valid for travel to the EU, whether the UK leaves with a deal or without.

Your Travel Insurance & Brexit

Any Goodtogoinsurance.com travel insurance purchased for travel after Brexit will be valid according to the terms and conditions of the policy, whether the UK leaves the EU with a deal or with no deal.

Any policy already issued for travel post-Brexit will remain in place and cover will continue as per the contract at the time of sale.

We also understand that many people will be abroad in EEA countries over the Brexit period and again, we want to reassure you that cover will continue. In the unlikely event that no deal is made and air traffic is grounded, or there are any other interruptions to travel, our stance is as follows for all policy holders:
  • If a you are abroad, we will automatically extend your cover with no additional premium
  • If you have a policy in place and are unable to travel, we will offer a full refund or the option to change your travel dates within the usual terms of a policy

Brexit & Your Holiday Arrangements

ABTA have published some frequently asked questions and answers about Brexit which you may find useful.

They state that the best way to protect your holiday is to book a package from a UK travel company.  In that situation it is the travel company’s obligation to provide you with the holiday and to offer an alternative or full refund if it cannot be delivered.

ABTA also points out that in a no-deal scenario, the European Commission has said flights to and from the UK will still be able to operate.

If we leave the EU with a deal, a transition period will be place which means everything will remain the same until December 2020.

If we leave the EU without a deal, there may be changes to certain aspects of travel within the EU which you can prepare for, such as
  • Passport requirements
  • Driving regulations
