British Airways promotes holidays in Marrakech
08/12/2010

British Airways believes that Marrakech will be one of the top holiday destinations for 2011. The airline has recently launched new routes to Marrakech to support the demand for people wanting to take holidays in Marrakech.
Marrakech has long been a popular holiday destination amongst British travellers who seek sun, hot weather and culture that’s just a short flight away.
Marrakech is a vibrant Moroccan city. Explore the city’s souks - tightly packed local markets selling handcrafted items including leather goods, glass lanterns and paintings. You could spend all afternoon wandering amongst the stalls. Be sure to dress conservatively to avoid any unwanted attention while you browse and only touch an object if you intend to buy it.
After the sun goes down, have a bite to eat in Marrakech’s night market. The night market is a series of open air cafes selling freshly cooked food. There are some unusual bites on offer including sheep’s head and snail soup. Choose your table quickly to avoid being pulled in all directions by waiters eager for your business!
If you want to take time out from all the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, visit the Jardin Majorelle. It’s a small, public garden with bags of character, where the boarders bulge with cacti, bamboo and palm trees.
For a real cultural experience, visit a hammam. Hammams are communal baths that can be found all over Marrakech. Most hammams have separate rooms for men and women. Part of the hammam experience is to have a vigorous scrub down that will leave you feeling squeaky clean.
When looking for accommodation in Marrakech, consider your options. Small hotels in the heart of the city have a traditional feel, with petite open courtyards adorned with colourful mosaics. These little gems tucked down narrow streets offer a little something special. At the other end of the scale, there are also plenty of spa hotels if you want something a bit more luxurious.
The climate in Marrakech is one of the main draws for visitors. Holidays in Marrakech benefit from warm weather at almost any time of year. The best to visit Marrakech is between March and May or between September and November when the temperature is warm but not too hot. In the hottest months of July and August, temperatures can soar to an uncomfortable 38⁰C. Try to avoid the rainy season between November and March when heavy rainfall can cause severe problems.
If you are thinking of taking a holiday in Marrakech, plan when to go and what to take. Take clothes that cover your shoulders and knees to wear about the city. Make sure your passport is up to date - it will need to be valid for at least six months in order to enter Morocco.
